Close Encounters of the Santa Kind

Santa said "Ho Ho Ho", Kate said "Ahh... No No No".  This photo is as close as we got to him.  Maybe next year.  Other than the Santa incident our trip to Bass Pro Shop was very fun.  Kate got to see fish, a waterfall and lots of animals.  We also did a little Christmas shopping.

struck by lightning

FINALLY!!! a perfect storm to catch some great lightning shots via the field to our south. unfortunately, the corn was pretty tall and hard to shoot over, but I managed to grab some great shots. Most of them are shot at 400 or 800 ISO at F22 and approximately 30s.

Defending our Freedom

We spent a little time at the air show today and snapped some pics. It was pretty hot, so we left early and I shot some more pics with the long lens rental from home. Of course, Kate made it into a few pics too...

See the link to the right for more.

peach, I could eat a peach for hours

Well, with the size of bites that Kate takes, it could take hours to get through one of the monster peaches that Kara picked on Saturday at the Kimmel Orchard Peach Festival. It was a long day with an early trip to Nebraska City with Tim and Kelly to pick some peaches, sample some cherry beer (which was great) and some BBQ. We also went to the Sarpy County Fair in the evening and saw some farm animals and enjoyed a Monarch Wing. YUMMM!

no Kate, you can't eat via osmosis

There's a first for everything.  We've seen her get really tired, but never actually seen Kate fall asleep in the middle of meal time.  She must have been EXHAUSTED to fall asleep at the table on Friday!  Too cute!

back from branson

We're back in the normal world now. Back to work, back to daycare. We had a great time in Branson over the weekend sharing in Great Grandma and Grandpa's 55th wedding anniversary. We spent lots of time in the pool since it was very hot and humid. Kate really enjoyed the pool and was quite the attention grabber as she showed off her new walking skills. She certainly didn't enjoy the car ride back though, she was quite bored and cranky after about 5 hours. I think I saw her actually pout for the first time when we wouldn't let her out of the car seat.

bipedal, yes I am!

Yes, that's right, I am now walking.  Not far, not fast, but I can take several steps in a row before losing my balance.  Hello world, here I come!!!

detail sunday

It was a great morning for a detail. Got both cars nice and clean. I think it's the first time both our vehicles have been clean at the same time in a very, very long time. If you didn't know, this is momma's hot new ride. The old cherokee was showing it's age and just wasn't going to work for us for much longer, so this is what we stepped up mom's ride too. It's a bit tough on gas, but we got the deal of a lifetime on it and luckily, she only drives about 5K a year, so it should last us a long, long time.

saturday swim

Kate enjoyed a swim on the deck in her new pool yesterday. She loves bathtime, so this was a treat to be able to play around in the heat and stay cool!

more pics of Katee

Day 3 - yeah...she's doing just fine

Kate seems to be really enjoying herself in Baby 2.  She's even doing great with taking naps on a mat after lunch.  It took a couple days to get the routine worked out so things at home were also normal, but I think we've got it figured out now.  Enjoy the pics (more after the break)!

the best rodent deterent

I've got a new best friend in the back yard. This is the second time he's paid me a visit. Unfortunately, he got a little to close to the deck while I was working on a project and I had to chase him off again. Snakes can stay and play as long as the keep the mices at bay!

5:30am on the Papio/Halleck Trail

That's about 20ft of visibility in some super dense fog.  Not only could it have been easy to get lost, but it was some heavy air and accumulated dew...was completely soaked after an hour in it.

On my way back home, I did catch a nice sunrise though.
